Allah Declares, “Do not be tormentors and do not be
oppressed either.” Hadis Shareef has the references that, “Before a worker’s
sweats dry up, pay his wages.” Islam protected the interest of the workers some
fourteen hundred years ago and provided him with appropriate status. Therefore,
one must completely follow Islam in order to ensure a total safeguarding of the
workers’ interests.
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
of Rajarbagh Darbar Shareef, Dhaka.
Prime Point of Allah’s attention, Imam and Mujtahid of the
age, Imaamul Aimmah, Kutubul A’alam, Awladur Rwasool, Habeebullah and Mamduh
Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee of Rajarbagh Darbar Shareef, Dhaka,
said, “Only Islam has protected the interest of the workers and provided them
with due status. On the other hand, ‘May Day’ or the ‘Workers’ Day’ could not
ensure the protection of the workers’ interests nor could it offer them an
appropriate status.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Through ‘May Day’ or the ‘Workers’ Day’, the workers are otherwise
disgraced because it brings home that they are a separate class or a lower
class. But in Islam, the position of a sweeper or an Emperor is equal since
both of them do labour. But one who is more Allah-fearing, has more devotion,
practices and loyalty, shall be graded accordingly with higher dignity and
status.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “In a second Global Convention of the Labourers, held in Paris on 14
July, 1889, it was decided for the first time to celebrate the 1st of May as an
international day. Since then, this is being formally observed as a ‘Historical
Day’ throughout the world to realize the rights of the workers.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Sad but true that along with others, Muslims also discuss the same
history of this day and express a similar notion. But they have separate
traditions, ideals and values. These ‘May Day’ formalities have virtually no
meaning in Islamic senses.
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Although the national days of different states are observed separately
but only May Day is celebrated officially in various countries. State and government
Heads, ministers, bureaucrats, workers’ federation, industrialists address the
workers with lucid language and great promises but right after the day is
passed, they forget their responsibilities and significance of the day. This is
reality.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “In fact, all those ‘day observances’ are basically ceremonial and mere
formalities and so are useless according to Islamic point of view. Because
through making it a day celebration, it otherwise becomes a mere day of
remembrance while rest 364 days of the year remains heedless. The ‘may day’
spirit is unnecessary and may not be mentioned as per Islamic views. Starting
from the first human, the first Rwasool, Hazrat Adam Alaihis Salam till the
last, Akhri Rwasool, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, All have provided
due honour to the dignity of labour. Even They Themselves did physical toils.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “The first Nabi and Rwasool, Hazrat Adam Alaihis Salam did agriculture
works and did fabrics weaving jobs. Hazrat Nooh Alaihis Salam made kisti
(boats). Hazrat Daud Alaihis Salam curved shields. Even Akhri Rwasool, Sayeedul
Mursaalin, Imaamul Mursaalin, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam grazed
goats, lifted water from wells and swept floors.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, ‘It has been described by Hazrat Abu Hurayrah RwadiAllahu Ta’ala Anhu
that, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam narrated, “There had not been a
single Nabi sent by Allah Pak Who did not take care of goats.” Sahaba-i-Kiram
asked, “Even You?” Replied Rwasoolullah Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, ‘Yes, I
did; in exchange of some ‘qirat’, I grazed the goats of the people of Makkah.”
(Bukhari Shareef)
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, ‘About the toils of the labourers, Allah Declares in Kalamullah Shareef,
“Verily, We have created people in toil” (Sura Al-Balad, Ayat 4). Further came
in Qur’an Shareef that, “And for all, there will be degrees according to what
they did, that Allah may recompense them in full for their deeds. No injustice
shall be done to them.” (Sura Al-Ahqaf, Ayat 19).
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “According to Islamic rules, no one can employ any farmer, worker or
day-labourer without due wages. Sayeedul Mursaalin, Imaamul Mursaalin, Huzur
Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam forbade through Hadis Shareef not to employ
any worker before fixing his wages.” (Bayhaqi). That’s the reason, Huzur Pak
Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam warned that, “Rich people doing hanky-panky in
paying the workers their wages and debts is a torture.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, ‘Regarding paying the workers, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam
Dictated, “Pay the worker before his sweats dry up.” (Ibn Mazah).
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “In Islamic point of view, a labourer and a proprietor are like brothers.
With vested responsibilities, a labourer shall work like a brother while the
proprietor remains sympathetic, kind and caring for him. Lords must not exploit
the labourers and never put him under unbearable burdens. Also not to push them
toward distresses by firing them unnecessarily. Sayeedul Mursaalin, Imaamul
Mursaalin, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said, “They are your
brothers. Allah made them your under-commands.” Therefore, if Allah made
someone’s brother his under-command, then he should feed him from whatever he
consumes and attire him from whatever he dresses. And shall not compel him
doing a job which is painful and beyond his abilities. If at all that job is to
be accomplished only by him, then he must help him. (Bukhari Shareef).
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “May Day spirit regarding the workers interests dates back only about 120
years. Even then, it would be grossly wrong to conclude that workers’ interests
have been completely protected after the May Day declaration. But 1400 years
ago, it was completely ensured in Islam. Labourers were recognized as the
brothers of the lords. Declarations were made that all Muslims are like
brothers. In addition, the proprietors have been warned by the words that, “All
are protectors; all shall be asked of the affairs under their custody.”
(Bukhari Shareef).
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Nothing else can come near the influence of the fear of Allah and the
love for His Habeeb, Huzur Pak Swallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam and the spirit of
the Ohi that may be caused over the human beings.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Incidents and spirits of May Day is nothing to the dignity and interest
of the workers as given in Islam. Therefore, the May Day spirit might be
something to the derailed and incomplete non-Islamists but to the Muslims, it
is irrelevant and unnecessary. Rather that’s un-permitted since it follows the
non-Islamists customs. Hadis Shareef says, “One who keeps in touch with certain
community, shall be disposed off along with that community.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “Basically, Muslims have a golden past and complete ideals of life. But
Muslims themselves are not aware of those today. Sheer negligence and lack of
ilm (knowledge) are reasons behind it. To overcome this, spiritual inspiration
and charisma is required.”
Mujaddidu A’azam Hazrat Murshid Qibla Mudda Zilluhul A’alee
said, “An official day-off on May Day is useless while we do not have days off
on days with Islamic spirit and inspiration. There is no arrangement for
day-off on important days like Akhiri Chahar Shomba, Fatiha-i-Eazdaham, Mira’az
Shareef, Lailatur Raghaib and 1st and 6th of Rajab etc. These days are of
immense blessings and prosperity. The government should arrange for days-off on
such significant Islamic spirited days instead of those meaningless un-Islamic
days.”
